Benefits for club members

Why join?

The Australian National University Mountaineering Club is Canberra's largest and most active outdoors club. We are a community of students and graduates who have a common passion for the outdoors and adventure sports. ANUMC members are able to participate in trips, social events and can hire a huge variety of gear at very low rates. In addition, members receive Club support to participate in advanced training and skills sessions, competitions and can access discounts at many Canberra outdoor stores.

Trips and Events

The club regularly organises a variety of trips including bushwalking, canyoning, climbing, kayaking, mountaineering, mountain biking, rogaining/orienteering, ski touring and snow-shoeing. These activities cater to a range of abilities and are a great way to learn new skills and work on your fitness to participate in more complex trips. There is an active calendar of social events throughout the year including camp-outs, BBQs, dinners, adventure film nights and presentations/slide nights. For more information see:

Indoor climbing wall

Club members get free access to the indoor climbing wall at the ANUMC both at club climbing nights on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and designated off-peak times at other times of day throughout the week. On club nights you can also get free access to climbing harnesses and shoes if you don't have your own. See the climbing section of the weekly events page for more information

Gear store

The club maintains a gear store which gives members and other trip participants access to gear and gear hire at low rates. The gear store is open twice per week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings throughout most of the year. See the gear store pages for more information.

Membership of the ANUMC is a great opportunity to develop leadership skills through a number of avenues.
