This is a call for expressions of interest in a 1-2 day guided course, covering canyoning skills expected of trip leaders. The course will be organised with a guide company, with the ANUMC covering up to 50% of the course costs-- depending on final group size.
As usual with ANUMC subsidies, granting of a subsidy is contingent on contribution to the club (see http://anumc.org.au/members/anumc-funding) and students generally receive higher subsidies. Expect the course to cost between $100 and $300 after subsidy.
The actual cost and date will be decided once participants are found.
The course content will hopefully be similar to http://climbingadventures.com.au/canyoning-blue-mountains/canyoning-courses#canyon2, and will include skills useful for leading trips such as anchor set ups, managing groups, belays and basic rescues.
We will try and tailor the course to the skill level of the group and so expect a base level of experience: at least some canyoning or climbing background. This flexibility depends on the number of people interested in the course, if there is not enough for a full course then we will join an existing course with a fixed syllabus.
If you are interested in attending a course could you let me know (by writing in the "additional information" box when signing up, or via email)
- Dates you would prefer
- Any relevant experience
- How you aim to contribute to club (usually assisting with trips)
- Optionally, what you would like to learn in the course
Note that the cut-off for applications will be 31/3. Then we will finalise course dates with people who have responded.
There may be an option for more courses later in the year if there is sufficient interest.
