Overland Track Trek

Join for a 7-day trek on one of Tasmania's most iconic tracks! This trek involves multiple days of hiking (~10-15km per day), so previous hiking and overnight camping experience is necessary. Please inform the trip leader of your previous experience when signing up. We'll need to book flights and track fees ASAP, so please only sign up if you are fully committed to the trip.

Trip limited to 5 members, so get in quick!

THE PLAN:

  • Fly down to Launceston on the 7/12/19
  • Start walking on the 8/12
  • Planning to the full lenghth of the track, and add in some of the side trips (including Cradle Mountain, Mt Ossa: the tallest mountain in Tasmania, plus some others)
  • Finish walking on the 15/12
  • Fly back to Canberra on the 17/12

~$980 which includes flights to and from Tasmania, Tasmania Parks Overland Track Fee, hostel accommodation pre- and post- walk, bus to and from Launceston from the track
Intended plan: 
7/12: Fly down to Launceston Stay overnight in Launceston Last minute preparation/food shop 8/12: Bus from Launceston to Cradle Mountain for start of trek 7am departure from Launceston Ronny Creek to Waterfall Valley- 10.7km Option of adding in Cradle Mountain side trip (2km return) 9/12: Waterfall Valley to Lake Windermere- 7.8km Option of adding in trek to Lake Will (3km return) 10/12: Lake Windermere to Pelion- 16.8km 11/12: Pelion to Kia Ora- 8.6km Option of adding in Mt Ossa (5.2km return) 13/12: Kia Ora to Windy Ridge (Bert Nichols Hut)- 9.6km 14/12: Windy Ridge (Bert Nichols Hut) to Narcissus- 9km 15/12: Narcissus to Cynthia Bay- 17.5km (there’s an option to do this leg via ferry instead of hiking, but this would obviously cost more and reduce hiking time) 16/12: Sleep in, chill out in the morning, and pack up Bus to Launceston- departs 2:30pm Stay in backpackers in Launceston 17/12: Fly out from Launceston
