Geminids in Gungartan!!

Trip type:
Bushwalking
Difficulty:
Medium
Start date:
Saturday, 14 December 2019 - 7:30am to Sunday, 15 December 2019 - 9:00pm

An easy to moderate overnight bushwalk in the Gungartan region of Kosciuszko national park!

There is supposed to be a meteor shower saturday night/early sunday morning so we will have the chance to view this while out in the bush: how exciting!!!!

Total length of the walk should be 25-30 kms depending on which exact route we take :)

I'm running this as an introductory training hike for members who are interested in my upcoming trip to the Zanskar valley. I will prioritize spots on this trip to those who are seriously considering coming on my Zanskar trip. But there should be some room for other club members to come along as well! If you came on the previous walk to corang arch, note that this walk is going to be a bit harder than that one: we will be walking a slightly greater distance, and will be doing a bit more ascending. Some of this walk will also be off track.

Taya Fabijanic is acting as a mentor for me on this trip.

If I don't already know you, please write a brief description of your prior experience in bushwalking when you sign up. Also let me know if you have a car/can drive!

Local knowledge:
I have never been to this area. However, Mika Kontianen is coming on the walk and he is quite familiar with the Kosciusko area and is a very experienced bushwalker. Taya has also been to mount Gungartan before and is more experienced than me.
