Anchor Building

Trip type:
Canyoning
Difficulty:
Medium
Start date:
Saturday, 14 March 2020 - 9:00am

By popular demand I will run an introduction to anchor building. This is aimed at members who have been climbing or canyoning a number of times. I will run through setting up anchors for abseilling and top rope climbing using natural features (rocks and trees). It will be conducted in a benign environment at Lambert Place Playground (you can get there on the 51 Bus).

When signing up please indicate you level of abseiling or climbing experience and whether you have ever set up anchors using sport climbing anchors. If you don't do this I will cancel your registration

You will need bring:

  • Harness
  • 4 locking carabiners
  • Slings (if you have them)

You will need to know how to tie:

  • Figure eight (rethreaded and on-the-bight)
  • Apline butterfly
  • Clove hitch
  • Water knot

Seriously if you don't know these by the time you get there you will waste everyone's time.

The session should take 3 hours so bring snacks.
