$7-8k
Start date:

Sign up as an expression of interest for a trip to Nepal for mountaineering. The trip is not yet confirmed and is subject to change. Currently planned for Nov/Dec 2022

Current plan is to hire guides and porters to climb Island Peak (easier grade), followed by Cholatse (more difficult and committing). The trip is expected to run for 29 days, which should be ample time to achieve both peaks and includes trekking access and time in Kathmandu.

The trip is designed to be an introduction to climbing in the Himalayas, not climbing in general. It is expected that participants have sufficient experience prior:

  • Many multi-day expeditions with harsh conditions (weather, terrain etc) and carrying heavy pack weight.
  • Climbing experience. The more the better, outdoor lead is expected and trad leading is preferable.
  • Snow experience. Camping in the snow, and ski or snowshoe use expected. Snow and ice climbing with crampons and axes preferable.

The aim of the trip is to make participants comfortable with climbing in The Himalaya on easy grade 6000m peaks with no guiding presence in the future.

Cost per person US $ 4900 per person. Does not include flights between Kathmandu and Australia, gear hire, tips and personal expenditure.

  • Inludes all permits
  • Flights to and from Lukla
  • All accomodation and meals outside Kathmandu
  • 4 Nights accomodation in Kathmandu
  • Support at both base camp with basic cooking and sleeping facilities
  • Guides and porters
  • All necessary group climbing equipment to make climb safe
