Avalanche safety chat

Trip type:
Start date:
Tuesday, 11 August 2015 - 6:00pm to 9:30pm

A chat about snow safety.

Australia's wet snow pack generally means that avalanche risk is generally low, but knowing about avalanche formation, risk mitigation and rescue could still save your life.

We will have a chat about avalanche formation and the steps you can take to reduce the risk of being caught in an avalanche. We will then discuss the theory of efficient avalanche companion rescue.

I am not an avalanche professional so this chat should not serve as a substitute for proper training from a professional but merely wet your appetite for more learning.

This will be followed by a second session of a hands on companion rescue simulation in the dark on Black Mountain, see the trip calendar.

Location: TR2 Arndt building. Call Sebastian Wende if you can't get in 0403919454.

Unlimited slots left.
