ANU Mountaineering Club Membership

At the start of 2018, the ANUMC moved to an online membership system. The system is called 'Active Carrot' and is run by the ANU Sports and Recreation Association ('ANU Sport' or 'SRA'). In order to purchase a club membership, you need to first have an SRA Membership. Once you have a SRA Membership, you need to use the Active Carrot system to purchase your ANUMC membership ($75 for Non-Students and $50 for Students).

Do you already have SRA Membership?

  • ANU Students (including post-graduate students) automatically have SRA Membership.
  • Non-Students (including ANU staff) need to purchase their SRA Membership. If it's been more than 12 months since you last purchased a SRA Membership, you'll need to purchase a new membership. Some staff may want to membership via salary deduction - contact the SRA about this.

Instructions on how to purchase an SRA Membership ($120)

  • Enter in your details. Do not use spaces when entering phone numbers. If you already have an SRA member account, the website will prompt you to log into your account rather than filling out more details. In this case, log in, go to 'buy online' and select the relevant ANU membership product.
  • Enter in your bank details to pay for your SRA Membership.
  • You should receive an email letting you know that you now have a SRA Membership account and a current SRA Membership.

So, you've paid your membership - Now What?

Congratulations, you are now a paid member of the ANUMC!

Unfortunately, because the Active Carrot system is separate from the ANUMC website, it takes about a week for your Club Membership details to reach us. Once we have been notified of your membership, we'll create/update your ANUMC member account on our website and you'll receive an email from the ANUMC with details on how to sign in to this account. We may also request more personal details from you (such as emergency contact information).

Once you have an account on our website, you are able to sign up to, and post your own, trips!

Also, make sure to pick up your ANUMC membership card from the gear store. This entitles you to discounts at many outdoors stores and is needed to get a belay pass (other forms of proof of membership are also okay).

In a rush to sign up to a trip?

There are some situations where members will need to sign up to trips before their accounts have been created on the ANUMC website. For example, students who have bought their memberships during market day won't have accounts in time to sign up for ''come and try'' day events later that week. For this reason, you are able to create an account on the ANUMC website yourself, which enables you to sign up to trips. In order to do this:

  • Go to the ANUMC website and select 'create a new account' on the left hand side of the page.

  • Fill out the mandatory fields

Note: The trip leader of any trip that you sign up to will be notified of your membership status. If you created your own account and the club has not yet receive notification that you are a paid member, your status will be 'non member'. In this case, the trip leader may ask for proof of membership (e.g. a confirmation email), otherwise they may remove you from the trip participant list.
