We are looking at organising a course in advanced rescue techniques recommended for canyon leaders. This will mainly cover improvised rescue techniques assuming a typical set of equipment for canyoning, and covering typical scenarios and best practices for Blue Mountains type canyons (i.e. dry). Specific content will be arranged with the guides depending on participant experience, but it will be expected that you have a working knowledge of the basics of canyoning anchors, descending and ascending techniques, and possibly have co-lead canyons already. (Contact Josh if you are interested in co-leading some dry canyons in the next few months) Proposed dates will be early September, possibly the weekend of the 10th. Costs will be up to $300 depending on specific course, participant numbers and subsidy amount. For now sign ups are expression of interest only. As course fees will be subsidised, could you please provide a short description of your contribution to the club with your sign-up.
