Reel Rock 10, presented in Canberra by Mont Adventure Equipment this October, will take you on a wild expedition across the jagged peaks of Patagonia, into a rowdy competition in backwoods Arkansas, and up onto the high balls and big walls that mark the great achievements of our time.
Allie Pepper is one of Australia’s leading female mountaineers with ascents of three 8000m peaks; Everest, Manaslu and an ascent of Cho Oyu without bottled oxygen.
Allie climbs and guides on high altitude peaks in the Andes and Himalaya, has been supported by Mont on many adventures and we are excited to have her in-store for a presentation evening this September.

Anyway, we need to review the guiding principles document for bushwalking with the club. What that actually means is that now is the time to complain about all of the things you hate about trips you have lead, or have been on, things that made you feel safe or unsafe, and things you think could be done better. Of course if all of the trips were amazing, then come and tell us that too.
I'm sorry to announce that unfortunately due to the lack of number of participants we are having to cancel this trip.
We did have lots of signups (20), so i'm interested in finding a public service which will allow us to book individually onto a bus which would take us to Thredbo where we can meet up and ski/board together. Unfortuntely Murray's services are no longer running this season, so i am still looking for a service to suit us. Please email me back if you find anything and i can forward around the details.

1st December: Participants will be emailed with a name and will be their 'Secret Santa'.
2nd - 17th of December: Drop your presents off at the Gearstore under the Christmas Tree.
22nd December: We will gather at The Duxton for gift opening and Christmas Celebrations!

A chat about snow safety.
Australia's wet snow pack generally means that avalanche risk is generally low, but knowing about avalanche formation, risk mitigation and rescue could still save your life.
We will have a chat about avalanche formation and the steps you can take to reduce the risk of being caught in an avalanche. We will then discuss the theory of efficient avalanche companion rescue.
I am not an avalanche professional so this chat should not serve as a substitute for proper training from a professional but merely wet your appetite for more learning.

There will be a number of awards presented on the night including the 'The Axe' award and the annual awards for Trip Leader of the Year, Beginner of the Year and Up and Coming Trip Leader of the year. We will also judge the best photos taken in 2015!
If you have been on a ANUMC trip this year, there's a strong possibility that you could also be nominated for any number of our awards!
