O'Week Stall

G'day Team, this is a place-holder for the 2018 Market Day

We're seeking volunteers to staff the ANUMC Stall on Market Day during O'Week (nominally 12-16 Feb 18). Volunteers will have to field questions from new students and process membership applications. We will have a wide selection of club gear to available to promote the club.

Volunteers can sign up closer to the date by adding their names to an attached Google Spreadsheet. If you can only do a short period, that is fine, every bit helps.

Instructions and equipment will be provided on the day.

Expression of Interest - Packrafting Weekend

Dates updated based on expected packraft availability.

There is some interest in hiring a few packrafts for a weekend in October or November and running a few trips using the set of hire fees.

Proposed structure of the weekend would be:

Friday - paddle on the lake with packrafts and kayaks for boat familiarity.

Saturday - Small runs on the murrimbidgee or similar. A chance to give everyone a go.

Sunday longer full day trip doing a hike/raft somewhere close to canberra.

Kayak Gear Stocktake

Each year the club undertakes a stocktake of our gear. It's time for us to spend a few hours on our kayak gear stocktake at the boatshed. If you have paddled a sea or whitewater kayak this year, or even watched a video of someone kayaking, then you are entitled (encouraged!) to assist in this important activity. It's also a great way to get familiar with our range of paddling equipment.

Come and Try: Indoor Climbing

The climbing wall will be open on Saturday morning for all (members & non-members) to have a go at climbing. This will be a good opportunity to check out the ANUMC climbing facilities, socialize with members of the club, and see if climbing is something you enjoy.

You do not need a belay pass or sign up to this trip to attend. All climbing equipment will be provided, just wear comfortable clothes.

Rope Skills Practice

Open practice session for rope skills at the old wall. We can go over whatever you want to learn or practice - from tying in to pulley systems and crevasse rescue. I'll set up some ropes and bring along any gear that's required. Sign up and leave a message about what you'd like to cover so I can make sure we have the right gear and enough ropes. If there are no sign ups I probably won't bother setting up ropes.

Note: this isn't explicitly instructional, but I'm happy to share what I know or play the victim.
