Come and try rogaining at the ACTRA* O-Week Rogaine in the beautiful Black Mountain Nature Reserve! There will be $50 Mont Voucher for each winning category and 2x $25 worth of spot prizes (i.e. even if you find yourself lost the entire time, you might still win free money).

This course teaches navigation skills that are essential for leading club trips as well as sports like rogaining and orienteering.

Course Format and Content

The course consists of about 7 hours of theory and in class practical exercises which will be taught in a class room at ANU on 3 Thursday nights. There will also be a practical session on a Saturday morning at Mt Ainslie to slowly go through practical skills in a realistic setting.

Another skills refresher/practice opportunity for people on either the mountaineering course or rope rescue workshop.
We will meet at the SRA and head to the *secret location* at about 5.30pm and run until 8 or 8.30.

Bring your usual canyoning/climbing kit. Be warned, there might be a lot of talking in between the rope faff.

We will work on assisted abseils, a few haul systems and pick-off rescues if we have time.

There will be two sessions that will cover the same material, depending on who attends.

If you have ever used our kayaking gear, then you are invited to join me for an hour or two tomorrow morning to take stock of our kayaking gear. This inventory update is important primarily for our insurance policy and for our own records.

I will provide coffee and something nice to eat for those who sign up.  

The climbing wall will be open on Saturday morning for all (members & non-members) to have a go at climbing. This will be a good opportunity to check out the ANUMC climbing facilities, socialize with members of the club, and see if climbing is something you enjoy.

You do not need a belay pass or sign up to this trip to attend. All climbing equipment will be provided, just wear comfortable clothes.
