Archived trip from old website run by Richard Salmons
This is a great beginners' adventure with bushwalking in a beautiful gorge, natural waterslides and small swims, so perfect for summer. This is a day trip on Sunday 21st - we first drive to the Tuross River gorge (2 hours) which begins with sliding at the "cascades" and then we head off hopping over boulders, climbing down small rapids, and swimming through pools with high rock walls all around. (Swims up to 20 metres, but a relaxed pace.) After a few hours we'll reach the spectacular Tuross Falls and check out the views over lunch. Then it's an easy walk along a trail back to the car.
While this is a bushwalk/wade/swim and doesn't require any special skills, it's a good way to see what canyoning is all about. Some pictures from previous trips on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/anumc/permalink/1030253563683675/
You just need to bring clothes and footwear that you're happy to get wet. The club can hire you a day pack if you don't have one, along with "dry bags" if you want to keep lunch, spare clothes, camera etc dry (hire rates are not expensive).
As with all club trips, you don't need a car - we will group you into cars and you just pay a share of the petrol cost. So please sign up here to express your interest, but actual numbers will depend on how many people have cars and how many spaces will be left for trip leaders. (Places are not unlimited, but we will run a small overflow/waiting list to allow for people who drop out at the last minute.)
From Tuross Cascades car park - along the creek to cascades, and continuing downriver to the falls (not descending the falls), then to the viewing platform and back to the car park by the tourist trail.
