This trip is conditional on me being able to shuffel a few prior commitments.
We finally got some snow and Wednesday looks like good weather so we'll try to ski something on the main range.
You'll need to be a strong skier (comfortable on black runs) and fit (be able to run 5 min ks below lactate threshold or run 10km in 50 min without puffing) because we're a planning to squeeze the most out of a day. If you fit these requirements but have no backcountry experience that is fine.
Plan is Head to Jindy Tuesday night. Crash at Mark's place. 6 am or earlier start Tuesday, head on to the main range from Guthega and either ski Club lake or upper Watson's creek depending on snow and avvy conditions. Then head back to Canberra Wednesday night and be back by 8pm.
You'll need standard gear for a back country. You'll also need avvy gear (beacon shovel and probe) because we've had a good amount of snow and wind but hopefully things will have settled by Wednesday. We can hire gear Tuesday night from the gear store.
Day trip on main range.
