This is a trip to go and volunteer at the Cannonball MTB festival at Thredbo and perhaps fit in a bit of riding as well. Why would you want to do this, well for one you get to watch some world class riders (Greg Minnaar just confirmed) do their thing, and two "For each day you volunteer you will receive lunch and a 1 day lift & bike rental package". Please read Thredbo's information page regarding volunteering at the event - https://www.thredbo.com.au/cannonballfestival/cannonball-volunteers-2018/
The general plan would be to run a trip later on and use the lift and bike package then. But of course you can use yours whenever you would like.
During the volunteering you will likely be placed somewhere along the track and be all by yourself, consider bringing a seat and a good book for the interludes between racing. There will be people coming by to check up on you and you will have a uhf radio. You will be out in the elements all day, so you will need to bring good sun protection and warm clothes.
The plan would be to drive up on Friday night and camp at the Ngarigo campground , volunteer at the festival on Saturday and Sunday, then head back to Canberra Sunday night. The Thredbo Valley trail goes right through the camp ground so there is a bit of an opportunity to go riding there at the end of Saturday. We can discuss this option closer to the weekend.
If you would like to come, sign up to the trip but you must also sign up to volunteer at the event through Thredbo's webpage and get confirmation from them that you have been accepted as a volunteer.
