We'll meet at the Kambah Centenary Trail and walk to Red Rocks Gorge Lookout and run through abseiling drills, skills and knowledge including:
- Anchor setup
- Single and double rope abseil
- Tying off (ATC, Figure 8)
- Self belay (Klemheist, Valdotain Tresse)
- Supervision
- Club policies
Personal equipment
- Harness
- Belay device
- 2 locking carabiners
- 120cm x 5mm prusik cord
- 60cm sling or PAS
Let me know if you need any gear. I will take care of group equipment.
Before attending please brush up on:
- Tying Figure 8 on-a-bight, rethreaded figure 8, alpine butterfly, double fishermans and water knots
- ABCDEF checks
- Abseiling calls
- ANUMC Canyoning guiding principles
In line with our Covid-safe policy:
- do not attend if you're feeling unwell
- have flu-like symptoms
- have travelled internationally, come from Victoria or been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days, and/or
- your health is considered high risk
