DUE TO THE POOR FORECAST THIS TRIP HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL SUNDAY 16th PRE TRIP MEETING POSTPONED TO THURS 13th
After a great day at the Wickerslack Come and Try during Bush Week, James, D'Arcy and I thought a sequal was in order! Snake rock is a classic Canberra granite crag near Gibraltar Falls in Tidbinbilla NP.
We'll be setting up top ropes and belaying, so absolute beginners are more than welcome to come and have a crack!
The Plan:
Leave ANU sport at 8am on Sunday, drive 45 to Snake rock and climb until mid afternoon. The approach is a 15 minute walk, but is fairly steep and involves a river crossing so bring decent shoes. Aim to be back at ANU sport by 4:30-5.
Here's the link to the crag site in case you want to check out some routes beforehand: https://www.thecrag.com/climbing/australia/gibraltar-peak-and-corin-road-crags/snake-rock
Pre-Departure:
We will have a pre-trip meeting on the Thursday at 5:45pm outside ANU Sport after which we'll hire any gear you may require when the gear shed opens. At a minimum this will include:
- Helmet
- Harness
- Climbing Shoes (If you know your shoe size before hand it will really help)
What to bring:
- Approx 1.5L of water
- Food for lunch and snacks
- Warm layers
- Hat + Sunscreen
- Climbing Chalk (if you have any)
- A positive attitude
- Tolerance for terrible snake-pun route names
Sign up:
Please indicate your level of experience (although none is required!), and which gear you'll need to hire when signing up
