Hello!
This is a bushwalking trip to Mount Gudgenby. This region hasn't been open for a very long time since the bushfires of early 2020, so this is incredibly exciting! Views from the top of mount Gudgenby should be absolutely spectacular, and there will be plenty of beautiful granite to admire on this trip.
This will be quite a tough walk! There will be a lot of bushbashing involved and some rock scrambling required in the approach to the summit of Gudgenby. Total length of the walk is around 21 kms with around 900ms of vertical ascent.
See this link for more info about the walk, and the route we will follow (we will follow the route set out in this link below):

Please Bring:
-Sun protection (hat, sunscreen etc)
-minimum 3L water
-lunch and plenty of snacks
-Rain jacket (even if no rain is forecast)
-head torch (even though we intend to finish before dark)
-Please wear appropriate footwear and also please wear gaiters if you have them!! I would also recommend long pants and a long sleeved shirt for this walk. If you don't protect cover up, you'll get very scratched!!
This is quite a difficult bushwalk so for safety reasons, I am only going to allow people who have experience walking these kinds of distances in this kind of terrain to come along! If you have never bushwalked before, this will definitely be a shock to you so this is not really suitable for beginners (sorry!)
When you sign up, please let me know your prior experience in bushwalking! Also please let me know if you have a car and can drive! Not that just signing up doesnt guarantee you a spot on the trip: If I don't know you, I'll contact you to chat to you individually about this trip/to assess whether it's safe for you to come or not depending on your experience level/fitness levels.
I intend for the group size to be quite small given the difficulty of the walk (6-7 max depending on how many experienced bushwalkers sign up). I'll confirm the final group in the week before the walk.
Note: I may postpone the trip if the weather is incredibly adverse on Sunday (e.g. thunderstorms, heavy rain).
Depart ANU sport at 5:30am and drive to Yankee Hat carpark (approx 1 hour drive). Walk to Mount Gudgenby and back. Aim to finish the walk by 5pm.I. Arrive back to ANU sport around 6pm. There may be delays if something goes wrong!
