Snake Rock is a smallish granite crag only ~40 minutes south of Canberra. There's a good range of climbing, with a number of climbs in the 13-18 range and some harder stuff as well. The approach is a steepish 20 minute uphill hike/scramble, and there is the option of a (shallow) dip in the creek on the way back.

You will need to be self sufficient outdoors i.e. have climbed outdoors a number of times before AND confident lead belaying. I will need a sufficient ratio of experienced to inexperienced climbers, so signing up does not guarantee a place on the trip.
You will need at a minimum:
- personal climbing gear: harness, shoes, helmet (yes this is compulsory), belay device and auto-locking biner; all this can hired at the gear store on Thursday
- sunscreen
- some food to share and water (at least 2L, more if it's hot)
- cash for petrol
- sensible approach shoes and possibly a rain jacket
If you have a rope/draws/slings and/or a first aid kit it will be a good idea to bring these along.
We will leave from the ANU at 9:30am (so that we can help with belaying for the Come and Try event from 8am - this is encouraged) and leave Snake Rock when tired/pumped/rained out. There will be no pre-trip - I'll send around a group email with details, and give you a call if I don't know you.
When you sign up please include some information on your experience (general outdoor experience, grades you climb/lead, whether you can clean, etc.) if I haven't climbed with you before, whether you are happy to drive, whether you are happy to help out with belaying from 8-9:30am, whether you will bring a rope/draws, and your phone number and email.
belay at ANU wall until 9:30 then climb at Snake Rock all day
