CANCELED DUE TO LACK OF INTEREST.
Grab your climbing shoes, chalk bag and a bike lock, then chuck on a life jacket for a morning adventure.
The plan is to meet at 6.30am on Monday morning and paddle from the suspicious waters of Sullivan's Creek out across Burley Griffin. We'll head under the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge and along to the waterfront vista of the National Library of Australia. There we can lock our boats within sight of the bouldering wall (remember to bring those bike locks! Cable locks would be best as you'd have a hard time with a U-bolt). An hour or so of finger-cramping bouldering and we'll kayak back to the sheds in time for your morning lectures.
You'll need to wear your climbing clothes while paddling since there'll be nowhere to get changed at the wall. It shouldn't get soaked unless you manage to roll on the lake, but be prepared for it to get a few splashes along the way.
There won't be time for making breakfast at the wall, but feel free to bring something ready-made along if you want a bite to eat while you're there.
Prior Experience:
Participants will need to have completed a come and try kayaking session and be confident that they can paddle several kilometres.
The wall is a reasonably safe bouldering environment, but is certainly challenging so participants will need to have climbed before.
Remember to bring those bike locks, or you'll be carrying your boat a whole lot further.
We'll be in phone reception for the whole trip. Participants will have a basic level of kayaking and climbing skills.
