Archived trip from old website run by dleykam
Sport climbing at Mittagong (Mt Alexandra), 2 hour drive from Canberra. Plenty of routes starting from grade 13.
Crag guide: http://www.thecrag.com/climbing/australia/mt-alexandra
You will need to be experienced and self sufficient outdoors i.e. have climbed outdoors a number of times before AND be confident lead belaying. I will need a sufficient ratio of capable lead climbers, so signing up does not guarantee a place on the trip. I will be posting a more beginner-friendly trip another weekend.
You will need at a minimum:
- personal climbing gear: harness, shoes, helmet (yes this is compulsory), auto-locking belay device (if you have one) and locking carabiner
- sunscreen
- some food to share and water (at least 3L, more if it's hot)
- cash for petrol (~$30)
- sensible approach shoes and possibly a rain jacket
If you have a rope/draws/slings and/or a first aid kit it will be a good idea to bring these along.
We will leave from the ANU at 7:30am. This means be there by 7:20am to pack stuff in cars. There will be no pre-trip - I'll send around a group email with details. We'll return when we get too pumped to climb, probably back by 8pm.
When you sign up please include some information on your experience (general outdoor experience, grades you climb/lead, whether you can clean, etc.), whether you are happy to drive, whether you will bring a rope/draws, and your phone number and email. If you don't include these details I assume you haven't read the trip description and will remove you from the trip.
We will drive to Mt Alexandra and climb all day
