Archived trip from old website run by madnicko
The trials of late-semester assignments, lab reports, essays, research papers, tests and exams are finally starting to fade, and now it's time to get away for the weekend. Winter is here, according to the calendar, but don't put away your volleys and harness in favour of skis and fluffy jackets just yet. Grab your dirtiest old thermals from behind the drawer, dig that friend's wetsuit you never got around to returning out of your cupboard and get yourself along for a weekend of canyoning before the snows end the season completely. We will be heading off from Canberra on Friday evening, driving to a promising-looking basecamp and setting up for a couple of days in the sunniest canyons we can find.
Participants will get the chance to experience the group dynamics of getting through a canyon quickly and safely, but still enjoying ourselves along the way. This weekend is aimed at those who attended the recent canyoning beginner's workshop and their signups will be prioritised. If you didn't attend the workshop but want to attend this trip, please email me.
We will return to camp on Saturday evening to cook up some dinner, and hang out our clothes in the vain hope that they'll dry before we set off again on Sunday morning. The canyoning area (and thus the canyons of choice) are yet to be finalised and will be announced closer to the date.
Participants will need to bring: (most gear can be hired from the gearstore)
And don't forget to bring a sense of adventure, and a few good stories to swap over the weekend.
Participant numbers are limited by the number of leaders (and thus, number of groups who can safely go canyoning each day). If the trip is full, sign up for the waiting list so that I know how many groups we can have and I will try to accommodate you.
TBA
