This is a very short and easy day trip to warm up for the ski season. I want to go to Dead Horse Gap near Thredbo, but this time explore the gentle valley side heading up the Thredbo River/Cascade Hut track area. This is a very scenic valley, which is popular for bushwalking in summer, and there's a high chance of seeing brumbies (wild horses) in our travels.
This trip is ideal for anyone who has done our ski-lesson weekend, and indeed preference will be given to those people who have done lessons (this year or last year). As ski lessons are going on concurrently, this will be a small trip of just one car (4 people). So please go ahead and sign up, but I will let you know if a place is available for you.
While it's just a day trip, the pre-trip meeting is essential to make sure you have all the gear you need (most items should be available from the gear store). We'll aim to be back at the car at 4pm, so not too late back in Canberra.
DHG - Cascade track (about half way to the hut) then back to ford and possibly up hills for views of Main Range, then back to cars by 4pm.
