Archived trip from old website run by Terry Murphy
The forecast for Pambula this weekend looks great - so come along and enjoy the wonders of the Sapphire Coast. Sign up is still open. There will be a pretrip on Friday at 1300 at the boat shed.
With the imminent arrival of our shiny new club trailer, I want to travel to Pambula on the south coast to test fit a range of our kayaks to the new trailer. The main purpose of this trip is to take 6 or 7 kayaks to the manufacturer to ensure that they fit the new trailer. We will also have plenty of time over the weekend to explore the local lakes and coast. The trip is suited to both beginners and more experienced paddlers. Depending on conditions and the skills of the group we can paddle the lakes, coast and even play in the surf.
We can stay at the Pambula Beach Discovery Holiday Park where there is a range of accommodation available. Check this out on the web prior to the pre-trip on Tuesday evening (note change of date for pre-trip) so we can book suitable accommodation. The booking will depend on participants.
I will leave with the kayaks on a trailer at 0600 Saturday morning from my place. So I would like some help at the boat shed on Friday at lunchtime - 1300 to load the kayaks onto the old tree that we will secure to my trailer.
After a stop for breakfast in Cooma we should arrive at Pambula around 0930 to do the test fitting of kayaks. After that we will work out a plan for the rest of the day. Paddling on Sunday morning for most of the day. We will depart for Canberra around 1500.
