Over the Canberra day long weekend, the ANUMC will take advantage of the chance to leave the ACT for 3 days and heads for the hills! Well, mountains to be exact. We'll be leaving the ANU on Friday and winding our way up to the Blue Mountains for three days of adventure and activities. It is a chance for old acquaintances to catch up, and for those new to the club, experience one of our stomping grounds. This trip is only open to those who are experienced in the activities that the leaders will be running over the three days.
Activities will include canyoning, bushwalking and climbing. The camp ground will be Cathedral Reserve Mt Wilson. See: http://www.mtwilson.com.au/mt-wilson-progress-association/cathedral-reserve.html.
All participants will need to sign up to the ‘header trip’ (this trip posting) so we can arrange the logistics and will also need to sign up to an activity each day (via the club website) on each of the three days of the BME. Activities associated with the 2016 BME will have the prefix ‘2016 BME.’
You will need to arrange your own gear hire for each day (check requirements for each individual activity though), and bring your car camping equipment and food for the three days as well. I suggest you arrange water among car groups as the tank water at the camp site is unreliable. The cost of the trip will cover the driver reimbursement for fuel and wear and tear on the car. Pre-trip will be on the Tuesday night at 6.45pm before the trip (8th of March) in the gear store.
Payment will be required at the pre-trip. If you pull out of the trip after that time, you will forfeit your trip fee.
Please note that all participants MUST have an emergency contact to attend the BME, so please update your account details. Please also add your car details so I can't start to work out if we have enough transport. Car groups will be based on the activity you are doing on the last day (Monday). With this in mind you are welcome to nominate someone to travel with in the comments section when you sign up for the trip.
Finally, the club will only be organising transport for people leaving on Friday night and returning on Monday. If you are not able to travel at these times, you may sign up, but it will be up to you to work out transport with others at the pre-trip. Please indicate if you are not travelling at these times in the comments section, so I know not to include you in the main group.
