Archived trip from old website run by pqzx
In the absence of interesting nearby peaks to climb, canyoning offers the opportunity to practise some alpine friendly skills like abseiling, scrambling, being cold, walking up steep stuff with heavy packs etc. If you've been thinking about giving mountaineering a go, why not come try canyoning? That said, you don't have to be interested in mountaineering to come canyoning. Perks include jumping/sliding into pools and interacting with pretty plants/animals/rock formations.
The plan is to go down Bungonia Main, located in Bungonia National Park. This canyon offers pleasant creek walking and swimming between quartzite cliffs, a few longish abseils and a steep but fairly easy walk out at the end. You will need to be comfortable abseiling, locking off your descender and using prussiks to come on this trip.
When you sign up, please include your canyoning or related experience. To ensure a good distribution of skill/experience level within the team, signing up does not automatically guarantee you a spot on the trip. Feel free to contact me if you have questions.
