Archived trip from old website run by Melanie Stamell
This is actually a four day event! Each day has one orienteering event. Please note - each of the events can represent multiple competitions. For example, on Sunday you can compete as both a regular competitor and also as part of the university championship.
Let me know if you're going. We'll have a regular ANUMC meetup / BBQ if there are enough of us attending.
/////////////////////////////ITINERARY
Friday - called he 'prologue' event is an urban sprint competition at the University of Canberra.
Prologue – Friday 25 Mar 2016
Location: University of Canberra
Provisional Start Window (Elite): 11:00am – 12:15pm
Provisional Start Window (Public): 1:00pm – 2:00pm
Anyone who wants to compete as a 'world elite' will need to register on both Eventor and the IOF Eventor. This means that you're given a world ranking. The rest of us just need to register with Eventor. If you're not an 'elite', the points from the prologue won't count towards your overall 3 day score, so it's essentially just another fun orienteering event.
Saturday - Day 1 of the 3 day carnival
Location: Isaacs Ridge
Provisional Start Window: 9:30am – 12:30pm
Race distance: Middle Distance
Sunday 27 Day 2 of the 3 day carnival (this event will also double as the university championship event)
Location: Primrose Valley South
Provisional Start Window: 9:30am – 12:30pm
Race distance: Long Distance (Elite), Middle Distance (Public)
Monday - Day 3 of the 3 day carnival
Location: Foxlow Flats
Provisional Start Window: 9:30am – 12:30pm
Race distance: Middle Distance
THE IMPORTANT PART TO REMEMBER IS THAT ANYONE CAN JOIN ANY OR ALL OF THESE EVENTS!!! It's for people who want to compete as well as people who just want to have some fun orienteering. You'll need to register through Eventor in order to do so: http://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events . Registrations close by end Feb!
If you want to attend on the Sunday as part of the University Championships you'll need to send an additional email to Pat Williams letting him know that this is what you want to do. [email: pat.williams(at)unisport.com.au]. The more entries for the university championship that we get, the better ANU's chance is to win. You need to be a full time student to compete.
If you want to find out where you rank internationally, you'll need to register with the IOF Eventor (http://eventor.orienteering.org/Events) and you'll need to compete all of the events (unless you really want to lose - you get points for each event).
For more information see Eventor and http://easter2016.orienteering.asn.au/carnival-information/
