Archived trip from old website run by Alana
After a long drive Friday evening, we'll use Saturday to do a couple of walks in the close vicinity of the campground.
We'll leave the campground 8.30am for a short drive to Mt Banks carpark. From here it is a 5km loop walk along a combination of walking track and firetrails that will take in different vegetation communities and the summit of Mt Banks (with views over Banks Wall to the Grose Valley). On the way back to the campground, we may stop for a 2km return walk to Walls Lookout for another view of the Grose Valley.
We'll drive back to the campground for lunch, then walk from the campsite down to the Wollangambe River (5.5km return). The river is well know for sandy beaches, clifflines and swimming opportunities, so bring your swimmers!
Total distance 11-13km, most of which will be up/down hill with some steep sections.
Please bring:
- 2L drinking water
- snacks and lunch
- rain jacket
- hat and sunscreen
- personal first aid
- optional: camera, swimmers and small towel
This is part of the broader Blue Mountains Extravaganza weekend, so please make sure you're signed up to that one too: http://anumc.org.au/node/610
