Archived trip from old website run by Melanie Stamell
Rogaine!!!!! About time! These are really great fun and also great navigation practice.
You'll need to form a team of between 2 and 5 people. If your team consists of all ANUMC members, you'll be eligible for a discount see: http://anumc.org.au/members/anumc-funding
You can walk or run, it's up to you. You can do either 8 or 24 hours.
The event is being held at the headwaters of the Shoalhaven River The area includes extensive river flats, old growth forests, some areas logged in the past and patches of farmland. Of course there are a few hills with elevation from 850m to 1250m. Fire trails cross the area and we have marked on some of the old logging tracks to help you through the scrubby bits. There will be two 1:25,000 A3 maps to ponder over on Saturday morning. Much of the course is open Eucalypt forest but gaiters are essential for the small scratchy bushes and maybe snakes. There will be a bus to the event for those doing the 24 hour and at a subsidised fare of $25. Get there relaxed and get home safely. It takes about 2 hours to drive there. The controls closer to the HH are easier navigation for beginners and novices. Not so easy further afield.

ANUMC teams can get subsidized by the club, see http://anumc.org.au/members/anumc-funding

If you and your partner/s are all ANU students, then apply for an even better subsidy!! So far, no ANU teams have applied. Keep reading for more information.
Intervarsity Championships: calling all university rogainers!
The intervarsity rogaining championships are being held in conjunction with the ACT championships. The ACT has a strong record in intervarsity; ANU are reigning champions, but can ADFA or the University of Canberra steal the crown? ACTRA can choose one team to be sponsored through the Nigel Aylott Memorial Sports Foundation, covering entry fees and bus transport. To be in the running for this support, contact Julie Quinn with your team members' rogaining histories as soon as possible, and no later than Friday 22 April.
Cheers,
Melanie
