Archived trip from old website run by Steven Hare
UPDATE:
Due to ongoing backburning in Namadgi the Mt Franklin Road is closed so the walk has been changed to the two walks listed under walking tracks here:
http://www.tams.act.gov.au/parks-conservation/parks-and-reserves/find-a-park/urban-parks/kowen-forest
The trip leader has never visited this area. All walking on tracks or trails
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A series of short walks from points along the Mt Franklin road to visit some nice features. Starting with an exploration of Mt Franklin to see old ski runs and the site of the old chalet, then drive along to the trail to climb Mt Aggie for some more nice mountain views, then back in the cars and along to the access point for Bendora Aboretum - walk down to the stand of conifers planted there. Total walking distance around 11km, including some steep sections of climbing on Mt Franklin and Mt Aggie. We may duck down to check out Bendora Dam on the way back depending on time.
Suitable for new walkers with mild fitness - this is not a strenuous trip. Expect nice views.
No pre trip. I will email everyone final details (meet location, trip drivers etc) two days before the event. If you have any questions please email me.
Walk to Blue Tiles and return, then complete the Glenburn Heritage Precinct walk
