Orroral Hill is a rocky summit in Namadgi National Park. It offers excellent views of the surrounding Namadgi National Park and beyond (maybe we'll spy some snow covered peaks!) Reaching the summit requires a tight squeeze and a short rock climb.
After leaving the cars at the Orroral Tracking station car park we'll walk up a jeep track (granite tops walking track) to the tracking station. From there we'll go off track for approximately 1.5km to reach the summit of Orroral Hill (1609m) Map is Rendezvous Creek 1:25,000.
I am looking for to two volunteers to lead this trip! That's right lead it. One person can navigate the group and lead us up to Orroral Hill and another down. I will gas bag while someone else can do all the fun stuff. I have done this trip a few times before so if we get stuck I can jump in. Please indicate in the sign ups whether you would be interested in leading one leg of this trip. Leading will involve navigation (Trip leader will also need to take one simple bearing and follow this off track for approximately 1.5km up to the hill.) and reminding everyone about safety etc (i.e. sticking with the group etc.)
To bring: 2ltrs of water, wet weather gear, sun hat, warm jacket, head torch, gaiters (we'll need to walk through some scrub), lunch & snacks, woolen beanie, compass if you are interested in leading a leg of this trip.
Please indicate in the sign up whether you can pick up an ANUMC first aid kit. Thanks!
Departure: ANU SRA
Time: 07:45am
