The annual Aldi ski sale provides an opportunity to prepare for the coming ski season both in terms of stocking up on cheapish gear, practising an alpine start and a battling through crowds similar to battling through a blinding snow storm.
For those new to to snow environment here is a brief guide to snow wear.
Remember: layer, light, merino, fleece, down and no cotton.
Unlike skiing at a resort where you never really expend a huge effort and temperatures never change that much, in the back country you will go from walking up hill and sweating to sitting around camp at minus a bit. The trick here is plenty of layers so you can easily adjust as conditions change. As you'll be carrying yourself and all your gear so you'll want to go as light a possible. While it is only ever possible to pick two of light, durable or cheap you can at least avoid heavy, flimsy and expensive.
Outer layer: a waterproof breathable shell that you can wear both walking up hill in wind and snow and over the top of all your other layers around camp.

Intermediate layers to provide insulation (warmth): fleece, down or synthetic down jackets or vests. Down has the best warmth to weight ratio but is the most expensive and doesn't work when wet, synthetic down is heavier than down but works when wet, fleece is the cheapest and heaviest but also works when wet.

Not sure about this jacket https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/snow-gear-sat-14-may/snow-gear-on-sale-sat-14-may-detail/ps/p/mens-half-knit-jacket-with-insulation/ my recommendation would depend on the materials used.
Base layer to provide warmth, absorb sweat, and sun protection when it's warm: merino or polypro long sleeve tops and bottoms (not cotton).

Other: goggles for storms, sunglasses for rest of time (sweating into your goggles renders them useless pretty quickly. Gloves: a think warm pair for around camp, multiple thinner pairs for when moving. Beanie: merino or fleece, you loose lots of heat through your head. Socks: merino multiple thinker pairs for when using hire gear, thinner pairs for when using custom fitted boots.
