Archived trip from old website run by laurenbartsch
I'll be heading the this year's Ski de Femme hosted by ACT XC.
The morning will consist of ski sessions / lessons with instructors, some morning tea, more sessions and then a group BBQ lunch. This will be a great chance to get out on the trails and pick up some tips to refine your skiing technique.
It has been suggested that light weight touring skis/boots will be most appropriate for this ski instruction (NNN-BC) skis and bindings. The club owns a few pairs of these skis and boots, or they can be hired from Rhythm for the day for $39.
In the afternoon, we can head back on the trails, and hopefully by then there should a groomed trail out towards Porcupine Rocks.
This will be a day trip, as I am working on Saturday, but happy to meet people at the Nordic Shelter.
Details:
Meet at Nordic Shelter ready to ski at 9am (so aim to arrive at the Perisher carpark at 8am or so), so leaving Canberra at 5am.
Cost - $30 for Ski de Femme + Petrol + Park entry
Bring: Waterproof pants/jacket or ski clothes, warm layers, snacks, water, sunscreen, sunnies & hat
Note: This trip will be cancelled if poor weather is forecast.
We will be attending lessons at the Nordic Shelter. After lunch we will head out on the Porcupine Trail to Porcupine Rocks if it is groomed. If not, we will do the 7.5 or 10km loop of the nordic trails. We will notify our saftey officer (Thomas, who will be at the Shelter) of our plans.
