Archived trip from old website run by joshbax189
How about a chilled out walk for your Sunday morning? This one is a classic Namadgi walk past some nice boulders to views out over the Orroral valley, and old observatory.
There might be be a sprinkle of snow about and maybe wallabies too.
If people are interested we can also walk across the valley to explore some interesting nearby boulders on Orroral Hill
There's more info on the history of the observatory at http://xnatmap.org/adnm/docs/2013/orroral.htm
The whole thing will take no more than 3hrs car to car. Longer if you bring a lot of food, it takes a while to eat you know!
For anyone counting at home, it's 7km round trip with 400m ascent. (Difficulty = "bring your grandma").
In order to satisfy the 'social' part of the title you should bring some food to share, think hot drinks, biscuits, scones etc.
Also bring something warm as it could be a bit chilly.
We will leave from the stone balls in front of the ANU gym at 9.30am. Expect to be back around 2pm.
Any questions feel free to email. There will be no pre-trip meeting.
Non-members are welcome, but please sign up so that I can arrange transport.
Follow the tourist track. Possibly head across to the boulders to the west of the observatory (Orroral hill).
