Hi all,
A friend and I will be walking the Overland Track in Tasmania in early November and I am happy to have up to four other competent and suitably experienced walkers join us. This trip is only suitable if you have moderate overnight walking experience and can comfortably press on in long periods of foul weather (what tassie is best known for!).
For info on the Overland track see:
http://www.parks.tas.gov.au/?base=27902

If you are keen please get in touch - note I will be carefully vetting applicants as although the trip will be hut based, Tasmania weather can be horrendous at times with days and days of rain and similar to the Aussie alps, snow can fall anytime of the year. Given the duration of 7 walking days we will also start with somewhat heavy packs due to the food load.
If approved, you will need to book your own flights and pay the track fees directly (I can indicate which flights I have already booked). I am happy to coordinate and do group bookings for the remaining logistics including airport transfers in Launceston, backpacker accomodation in Launceston, transport to and from the track and Lake St Clair ferry.
If interested please get in touch with me stevenmhare [at] gmail dot com and if I have not walked with you previously indicate your bushwalking expereience and nominate a committee member who can vouch for your suitability. I intent to have all the logistics organised and booked first week in September so if keen I will need definite commitments by end of August. Also please be aware the track can get booked out - if this happens on the proposed start day numbers for this trip may be further restricted.
Pre trips will be organised to coordinate group gear, plan menu etc well in advance - likely mid September.
See trip description - will be updated prior to departure.
