With very good snow cover, now's the chance to do more skiing and consolidate skills you may have picked up in recent ski lessons. I would like to go to Dead Horse Gap, where we can ski uphill for a while to the spectacular Rams Head Range. After skiing around the peaks and hopefully having lunch with a great view, we ski down a steady (not overly steep) ridge all the way back to the cars.
This trip is ideal if you have done a ski lesson with the club, or maybe come on one or two skiing trips already. When you sign up, please indicate the activities you've done with the club, and/or if you have done much alpine (downhill) skiing. This particular trip will be very well suited to anyone who has done a bit of alpine skiing before at the ski resort, but perhaps is just starting out in 'cross-country' skiing.
Also, this is a great opportunity for one or two 'up and coming' trip leaders (you know who you are). There is a lot of different terrain in this area, which would be very useful experience for you.
As there is also a beginners' lesson this weekend, I may limit this trip to one car. As a result, all signups are only an 'expression of interest' until we can gauge the overall skill level and how many new leaders are coming. We will notify you in a day or two if you have a place.
DHG-campsite 1 hour north (by creek S of Ramsheads). Local skiing. Return to DHG via the walking trail.
