This trip is for snowshoers who want to participate in the Main Range Extravaganza but can't dedicate the an entire long weekend.
We will depart Canberra early Saturday morning, catch the Kosciusko chair lift and snowshoe along the tourist track to the camp. We will have the opportunity to conduct short activities around camp on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.
On Sunday afternoon we will head back to Thredbo for return to Canberra.
Distance: about 7km each way to-from base camp.
Expected ability: should be able to snowshoe bumpy but level ground and descend gentle slopes with a pack, or at least be super fit and motivated.
See http://anumc.org.au/activities/skiing#gear for the gear you should bring.
As conditions can deteriorate unexpectedly, it is especially important that you have the correct gear on snow trips. Make sure you have waterproof jacket and pants as well as decent gloves and a good amount of warm clothing (including spares).
