If you're the kind of person who likes strenuous, painful, and exhausting hikes with climbs and descents labeled by NSW Parks as: "difficult", then you're in for a treat. Come along for a weekend overnighter through Bungonia that’s guaranteed to be gorge-ious.
The plan is to leave Canberra from the Sports Centre at around 5:30 on Friday afternoon. From there we will head to Bungonia and set up our first camp. Then, on Saturday morning, the fun begins. We will enter the canyon via the red track (clockwise) and spend the day walking down to where Bungonia Creek meets the mighty Shoalhaven river. At this point we will set up our camp for Saturday night. Then on Sunday morning we'll have a nice, relaxing (read: exhausting) walk up the white track back to the carpark . From there it's just a short drive back to Canberra with a potential pause for dinner in Goulburn.
The tracks in and out of the gorge are definitely difficult, so please only sign up if you are an experienced bushwalker.
