The plan is to walk to Tidbinbilla Peak via the Camel Hump!
The majority of the trail to the Camels Hump is on a management road (which starts at the Mountain Creek car park in Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve). The road is in good condition with the most sketchy part of this trail being on the hump itself. This trail is uphill for most of the 8km to the Camel's Hump (there is an altitude increase of 542 metres). For this reason, as well as the walk being long (overall distance being approximately 22 km) I have rated the walk as hard. A good level of fitness and willingness to walk uphill for an extended period of time is required!
The walk from the Camels Hump to Tidbinbilla Peak is 5km return along the ridge line (some up and down). We'll have to find our own route in sections and bush bashing will likely be required. There will likely be some exposed sections and rock scrambling. Gaiters (available from the ANUMC gear store) or long pants are required for leg protection. The walk is described in more detail at: https://www.thewalkact.com/mt-tidbinbilla
The goal for the day is Tidbinbilla Peak (not Tidbinbilla Mountain as described at the link which is a bit further on). We'll see how we go on the day noting we need to be back at the cars by 5:30pm in time before the gate to Tidbinbilla close.
To bring: There is no water available on the walk so 2.5-3lts of water is required. Bring lunch, snacks, head torch, warm clothing, wet weather gear, sun protection, sturdy walking boots. Meet at the ANU SRA at 7am for a 7:10 departure.

Refer trip description. May get to Mt Tidbinbilla if we're traveling quickly.
