Spectacular landscapes, rock arches, forest, heath, swamps, camping caves, pools and cascades. Sounds pretty great doesn’t it? Sign up and get a taste of some quintessential Budawangs walking.
The walk?
This overnight walk is a brilliant introduction to the famous Budawangs. It will also include a night under a quintessential Budawangs camping cave.
Our walk will begin at the Wog Wog campsite and from there will saunter through some beautiful and open forest until reaching the Corang plateau. We will head up to Corang peak for its impressive views over the rest of the Budawangs and from there will visit Corang Arch, a huge and impressive rock formation. We will then descend a famous piece of conglomerate rock onto the Canowrie brook floodplain. From there we will head west and start exploring some of the rock overhangs and looking for a place to camp for the night.
On day 2, we head for the Corang River and follow it back toward the track. This section involves some extremely impressive cascades, some thick scrub and some rock scrambling. Day 2 will be short in distance but will be relatively slow walking.
Over the 2 days, we will walk around 25km and ascend/descend about 600 meters.
The requirements?
You must be fit and be able to handle wearing a pack on uneven terrain and exposed rock faces.
The weather
Cold and windy…
Pre trip and transport:
We will have a pre trip meeting the Thursday before the walk so we can go over the plan, meet each other and organise gear. I will send around a list of things to pack for the walk prior to the pre trip. I will drive one car on the day and I will also need someone else to drive another car. Please let me know if you can when registering.
