Asgard - The dwelling place of the gods…
The name “Asgard plateau” is a good enough reason to visit this place in my opinion. The area consists of rock pagodas, outcrops, swamps, thick scrub, an old mine and views that will make you think you truly are on Asgard.
The walk?
This walk will be exploratory in nature, as there seems to be a few points of interest that may be worth visiting. I have marked some on the map below.

The area isn’t huge so depending on our appetite for exploring we can see a lot or see a little. Either way the views will be stunning.
I anticipate some rock scrambling, off track walking and some moderately heavy scrub so please take that into consideration before registering.
This walk will be a good chance to practice some route finding, ground to map work as well as some basic compass skills.
The requirements?
You must be fit and be able to handle wearing a pack on uneven terrain and exposed rock faces. Your scratchy scrub tolerance must be high.
The weather
Cold and windy…
Pre trip and transport:
We will have a pre trip meeting the Thursday before the walk so we can go over the plan, meet each other and organise gear. I will send around a list of things to pack for the walk prior to the pre trip. I will drive one car on the day and I will need someone else to drive another. Please let me know if you can when registering.
