As Mark said in his trip -- the snow is finally here! This is a backcountry skiing trip for those of you who don't fancy camping in a raging blizzard on Saturday night, but still want to take advantage of all that fresh fresh powder on Sunday.
Plan is to depart Canberra in the wee hours of Sunday morning and return that evening, spending the day doing laps up and down the hills around Guthega Creek.
Because I've never led one of these trips before and I'm not an expert, this trip will be limited to those with prior backcountry skiing experience. If I haven't skied with you before, please describe your experience level when signing up.
You will need to bring warm & waterproof clothing suitable for use in backcountry snow (thermals, fleece, beanie or balaclava, waterproof gloves). Cotton garments are a definite no-no -- they become freezing when wet and there will be no amenities to get out of the cold.
Forecast for Sunday includes wind and snow, so goggles are a must (BYO).
Skis & boots (either AT or Telemark) can be hired from the gear store.
Feel free to get in contact if you have any questions.
Spend the day skiing near the old T-bar at Guthega Ck.
