We're heading off to conquer the highest mountain in the ACT in a single day.
We'll drive to the defunct Orroral Valley tracking station and walk up fire trails to Murrays Gap. From there, we follow a footpad to the summit of Bimberi Peak. Then we'll walk all the way back!
This is a very difficult walk. The total distance is 53 km with 1500m of ascent. We will likely have to trudge through snow for a few kilometres. If I don't know you please detail your experience in the "additional details" field. I'll cancel your registration if you don't.
There will be no pretrip. I'll organise transport by email.
Gear:
Thermals and insulated jacket (forecast maximum is around 0!)
Wind/rain jacket.
Spare socks (in case we have to walk through snow).
Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
Headtorch and spare batteries.
Enough food for 12 to 16 hours of walking.
Personal blister kit.
Wind/rain jacket.
2 L of water (there is plenty on route and I'll bring purification tablets).
Healthy appetite for suffering.
Walk to Bimberi peak via Australian Alps Walking Track. Then walk back.
