This trip has been updated. Formerly it was "First canyon of the season: Long Gulley"
Time to get back out to Bungonia!
Saturday: we'll head up to Bungonia and do some abseiling in the area around the Bungonia ranger station (Hogan's Wall). In the early afternoon we'll take overnight packs down the Red Track (Clockwise) into spectacular Bungonia Slot canyon, and proceed to the exit of the canyon at the Shoalhaven.
Sunday morning we can either exit up the White track back to the cars, or if we're feeling adventurous we can proceed down the Shoalhaven about 6km to some cool industrial ruins, then exit out the Trestle Track.
This revised trip does not require any abseils, so is more friendly to people new to canyoning. There are, however, some very steep and long climbs that will make you feel like your legs are going to fall off.
All participants are responsible to organize their own gear, you must have:
- Shelter and sleeping gear
- Protective clothing during the day, warm clothing for the night
- Raingear (Rainjacket/ pants)
- Helmet
- Good walking shoes
- Hat
- Food (enough for 2D1N) and cooking gear
- Water (3L)
- Headtorch
- Toiletries
- Personal first aid (band aids, bandage, space blanket)
And if you are planning to abseil, you must have
- Harness
- Belay device
- Carabiners x2
