This weekend will be an overnight trip on the South Coast at Congo to work on safety and skills for sea kayaking. Andrew Collins (ex Sea Kayaking and White Water kayaking officer) will be conducting the course. Andrew has had many years sea kayaking experience. He has paddled across Bass Strait and at other locations including the Great Barrier Reef. Terry Murphy (White Water Kayaking Officer) will assist. He has assisted in conducting this course several times with Andrew and Dave Winkworth. We will work in various lessons and technique workshops along the way. The course will cover paddling, bracing and rescue techniques on enclosed and open waters as well as techniques to safely enter and return in your sea kayak on surf beaches. Paddlers of all standards will benefit from shared knowledge and expertise.
Please list your paddling experience in the additional info so we can select and match up the group appropriately. Also let us know if you have a car with tow bar that could take the kayak trailer.
This course does not award an official qualification, but with an in house course we can adjust the sessions to suit interest/relevance to our crew. Logistics will involve loading up the boats/trailer Friday arvo and heading down to Bateman's Bay area to setup base camp at a house in Congo. Paddling all day Saturday and back to the house Saturday night. Paddling Sunday morning then packup and drive home.
