Walking in the high country, taking photographs of the beautiful glacial lakes, get amazed by the alpine wildflowers... these are the best things you could do on the first weekend of 2019!
The walk follows the Main Range Track - a 22km circuit that offers spectacular views of the mountains, snow gums and the crystal-clear lakes. We will walk the track over two days, which makes it suitable for anyone who'd like to walk in a slower pace or hasn't camped in the alpine area before.
The Plan: We'll depart ANU Sport at 7am, leave our cars at Charlotte Pass and start walking around 10.30am. We'll walk the Track clockwise:
Day 1 (~12 km): Charlotte Pass - Seamans Hut - Rawson Pass - Mt. Kosciuszko - Wilkinsons Creek (off the track)
Day 2 (~10 km ): Wilkinsons Creek - Carruthers Peak - Blue Lake - Snowy River Crossing - Charlotte Pass
We are likely to grab some food in Cooma on the way back to Canberra.

Potential Risks: In alpine areas weather can change rapidly; High UV could lead to sunburn, cold and windy night could lead to hypothermia if you are not well-equipped. The trip can be canceled or become a day trip last minute if faulty weather is approaching.
Extra notes: The number of participants will depends on the numbers of volunteer drivers and experienced walkers. Let me know in the "comment" box:
-if you'd be happy to drive
-if you have a Park Pass
-if you can't attend the pre-trip meeting (where we go through plans, logistics and equipment)
