This overnight bushwalk is a slimmed version of the trip that was canceled due to fires last weekend.
We will begin our walk at Guthega power station and rock hop across the Munyang River, which is now sans bridge. We will climb Disappointment spur trail for roughly 3 kilometers before heading off track and scrub bashing our way to the top of Disappointment ridge. We will follow the ridge, passing Mt Gungarten and eventually joining the beautiful Kerries Ridge. We will follow Kerries Ridge down to Mawsons hut and find a campsite close by and next to Valentine Creek.
On Day 2 we will follow Valentine creek westward toward Valentine hut and the Valentine trail, which will lead us back to the car along Schlink road.
I will move the trip to the Main Range if fires are still affecting the area.
The trip:
This trip is suitable for intermediate and fit bushwalkers. Half of the walk is off track and exposed. It will be steep, and over rough and uneven terrain.
We will need to average around 20km a day.
