The Sentinel may not be one of the highest peaks on the Main Range but it’s certainly one of the better looking ones. With its knife edge approach and steep climb to the summit, it is sure to get the adrenaline pumping.
We will depart the Coffee Grounds at ANU at 3pm on Friday and head for Guthega dam where we will park the car. We will walk uphill and mostly off track for 5 km to our campsite for the night.
On Day 2 we will climb up Mt Twynam, Australia’s 3rd highest mountain, and make our way to the Sentinel. After our successful summit, we will return to the car the same way we came with a possible detour to Blue Lake.
The trip:
This trip is suitable for fit beginners. The majority of the walk is off track and exposed. It will be steep and over rough terrain. There will be a scramble or two on our way to the summit.
