This trip is part of the BME. To attend, you must have signed up for the BME GENERAL TRIP. Registration does not mean participation. Selection of participants is within the trip leader’s discretion.
We will drive the 30min from the campsite to Blackheath where we'll have a chance to get a hot cup of decent coffee. From here we'll head to the start of the Wall Caves Track. This short but steep tourist walk goes through a small canyon to the Wall Caves indigenous site.
Following this we'll return to the cars and head to Evans Lookout and the start of the Grand Canyon walk. This is a prepared tourist track which follows the Grand Canyon before descending to the Greaves Creek. Don't be fooled by 'tourist track', it is hard work, especially the walk out. The views are amazing and there's also the opportunity to have a sneaky swim at the exit of the canyon.
Before heading back up to Evan's Lookout we'll take a short detour to Beauchamp Falls overlooking Rodriguez Pass for lunch with a view.
When signing up, please indicate your fitness level. Walkers must bring the following:
- Comfortable walking clothes (and swimmers if you want a dip)
- Spare warm clothing (Light jumper or raincoat if required)
- Hat and sunscreen
- Sturdy shoes for walking (Hiking boots/running shoes)
- Towel (to dry yourself after swimming)
- Daypack
- Food and water (2L Minimum)
- Personal first aid
- Torch/headlamp
I look forward to your participation!
