Hey all!
Climbing trip to Nowra this Saturday to run away from studies/ Canberra for a day! We'll be heading to Thompson's point, where there's a diverse range of sport climbs on sandstone, ranging from grade 11 to the 30's, with classics of all grades (see Thompson's Point on the Crag, namely the Descent Gully walls).
This trip is completely open to all intermediate and experienced climbers, especially if you are self-sufficient (ie, able to lead climb, belay, clean a climb, etc).
Beginners: There is space for a couple beginners who want to learn how to climb outdoors, however it's best if you've been outdoors at least once before/ have climbed indoors for a long time. There'll be a couple of top ropes set up, and you'll be able to learn how to lead belay and lead climb if you're interested. Please add your experience in the additional comments section and get in contact with me so we can make sure you get the most out of the day!
We will be leaving by 7:30 (location TBD), and will probably arrive back in Canberra around 19:30. We'll have a good couple of hours to climb and have a splash in the Shoalhaven river afterwards if we're feeling it.
There will be a pre trip meeting at 18:00 on Thursday (23/5) to get to know each other and discuss driving arrangements beforehand. If you can't make it, please get in contact with me so I know your ability/experience before we go. Again, please include your experience climbing in the additional information section upon signing up, and feel free to text me (0401 661 963) or email me (mr_mayer@hotmail.com).
Gonna be rad, get stoked!!
Leave 7:30 from Canberra, drive to Thompson's Point, park there and climb at the Descent Gully walls from ~10:30 to ~16:00, drive back to Canberra arriving around 19:30.
